Palladium is the element of platinum group of the eighth group, the fifth cycle. It is discovered by British chemist Wu Ruston in 1803 from the platinum mines. It is key material used in aerospace, aviation and other high-tech fields as well as automotive industry

It can be separated from natural platinum alloy. Palladium is rare in the earth and difficult for mining and smelting, which belongs to precious metal.

The content of Palladium in the crust is about 1 × 10-6%. Along with other platinum group elements, Palladium dispersed in the alluvial deposits of various mineral sand (such as raw platinum ore, nickel sulfide copper, nickel, pyrite, etc.). Under room temperature, 1 volume of palladium sponge can absorb 900 volumes of hydrogen, one volume of colloid palladium can absorb 1200 volume of hydrogen. Being Heated to 40 ~ 50 ℃, most of the hydrogen absorbed can be released. So it is widely used in gas reactions, especially hydrogenation or dehydrogenation catalyst, can also produce resistance line, watches and other alloys.
